Summer 2011 Overview

So we have had a really busy summer and figured it was time to compile some photos of what we have done.

This is a little backwards but at the end of the Summer Lorelai and I went back east to visit my mom and we went to the Dressage Horse Show in Devon Penn. this is sort of a big deal because the next step is world cup and then Olympics so these are pretty talented horses and riders. It got cold that evening so here she is all bundled up, she did really well, even on the plane.

They have lots of things for sale at the show of course so here I am trying on a Kentucky Derby style hat, with her asleep in my pack.

Here she is with my mom sitting on her first saddle although I'm sure it won't be the last time, I plan on her riding when she gets older.

Ok so here we are in the middle of the summer with her swimsuit on, it was actually warm for a few weeks in August, other than that we had a pretty cool summer.
We took her up to the San Juan's and she fell asleep on the boat in her life vest, how cute is that?
She is such a good baby and getting so big, she loves to go places and see things, I can't wait to see the person that she becomes.

Rory is 5 Months Old!!

This is Sharon she's my friend and Rory's nanny, I'm so blessed to have such an amazing person to love and watch her while I work.

Even at 5 months she looks tiny in Jeff's arms, but to me she's getting so big.

Remmy adores her, he really can't get enough of her, there was of course an adjustment period when we first brought her home but now they are inseparable. She smiles every time she sees him and laughs at him when he plays with his friends.

Elbe Steam Train

This was the view of Rainier from the train.

We took the Elbe Steam train up to Mineral Lake last Friday, had lunch and came back. This is one of the only steam trains around in WA and this particular ride is ranked number 2 in the best Steam Train rides in the world by National Geographic. It was perfect weather and really relaxing. Rory did really well as you would expect the rumble of a train is really soothing to a baby.

It really looked and felt like the Hogwarts Express minus wizards and private compartments. But it was still really cool all the same. It was a cool experience, especially when you thought that this was how people traveled across our country for a long time.

Bollywood Night

Its good to have a night out with the ladies every now and then. My friend Sharon is the one that put this together. They do a Bollywood night in Seattle about once a month. They play remix Bollywood music that is fun to dance to and they have a lady there that does Henna Tattoos, it's not really advertised she just looks like she's there to hand out but she does a really good job.
Jeff stayed home and watched Rory (her new nickname since people really want to give her one and I'm anti Nikki, Rory is short for Lorelai which is her middle name).
We had a blast and burned about a million calories dancing.

Cutest Baby Ever (sorry everyone but it's true)

Nicolette Lorelai Church

Nicolette is an amazingly sweet good baby. I feel so blessed to have her. Labor was long and exhausting, but my midwives and nurses were the best anyone could ask for, they were really helpful and kind so I would totally recommend Evergreen Hospital. I did end up getting an epidural which for me was a good decision, they ended up having to give me pitocin and they had to break my water since after hours of labor it never broke. But it was a great labor experience and the only thing I cared about was the end result.

She rarely cries and I have to wake her up to change her and feed her, she is easy to please and calm down, so part of me wonders if this is how it will be or if she is just easy now and will become that child that won't stop crying that you always hear about. Either way I'm really grateful to have her and look forward to watching her grow and can't wait to see how her personality develops.
I am healing well, I have been able to get out and walk everyday, my mom was in town for the birth (she was born on 3-23-11 weighing 6lbs 12oz at 7:44am) but she had to leave Saturday night, which was a bummer but I am blessed to have a lot of Jeff's family close and willing to help.

I will continue to take pics and keep you posted on her progress, My goal is to get birth announcements out but we'll see. Jeff was amazing at her birth by the way and he was also the one to update all of our facebook pages and friends and family with pics and news.
